Nuts About You
Today I am sharing a fun thank you card I created for our next door neighbors, Kent & Lou. In early August, we moved into a new house and we are so lucky to have such wonderful neighbors. We've met several nice families and if I had time, I would make cards for all of them. Everyone has been so helpful welcoming us into the neighborhood.
But Kent and Lou have helped us out in more ways than we can count, answering all of our pool questions, and being so thoughtful. We joke about all of the oak leaves we will be raking soon (now that the leaves have started to fall) and the squirrels have been very active collecting acorns from both of our yards for the winter.
When I saw this BB Squirrel stamp set from My Favorite Things, I immediately knew I had to make a fall thank you card for our neighbors.
I inked up the background with candied apple, spice marmalade, and fossilized amber distress oxide inks after heat embossing some oak leaves in clear for an emboss resist technique. I also inked up the grassy layer with lucky clover and twisted citron distress oxide inks. The grassy layer is popped up with craft foam for dimension. I also embossed the sentiment in white and added a few tufts of grass with MFT elf green hybrid ink.
The squirrels are colored with Copics and cut with the coordinating dynamics. The little guy carrying the big pile of acorns is tucked in behind the grassy hill.
I used the BB Alphabet and Numbers stamp set for part of the inside sentiment and also for addressing the coordinating envelope. I colored the envelope with Copics and added a protective layer of distress micro glaze.
It was lots of fun making this card!
