Tiddly Inks Challenge | Colorful Cute Cacti

Today kicks off our new monthly challenge for May over on the Tiddly Inks Challenge Blog. We want to see projects made with images from the floral and plants category.

Challenge Theme: Florals and Plants

I used the Cute Cactus digital stamps to create this fun card. I colored the plants and flower pots using Copics. The suns were masked and stenciled in the background using distress inks. The sentiment was inked in rainbow color distress oxide inks to coordinate with the flowerpots.

I also thought the suns would be way cooler if they were wearing shades so I stamped the glasses with a clear stamp from my stash, masked off the lenses with a full adhesive post-it note, and applied black soot distress ink.

The flower pots were doused in clear shimmer sparkle pen, fussy cut with scissors and popped up with foam tape.

Now it's your turn! Link up your florals and plants projects this month for a chance to win a gift certificate to the Tiddly Inks shop. And don't forget to check out the other gorgeous makes my teammates have come up with for this challenge.

Thanks for stopping by!!

  3. I love this card! Can you tell me who makes the sunglasses stamp and sun stencil? I think I'd like to add them both to my stash!

    1. Hi Kathy! Both the sunglasses stamp set and the sun stencil came from Simon Says Stamps. The sunglasses were included in a monthly kit a couple of years ago but you may be able to purchase the stamp set separately. The stencil may be discontinued. The sun and a kite were included on the same stencil sheet. For the sunglasses, I stamped the image in black ink and then masked it with post it notes so that I could add black soot distress ink to turn them into shades. I think the original stamp only includes the frame of the glasses. Let me know if you have any other questions!! :)
