Fairy and Background - Kit and Clowder Monthly Coloring Class Project

Hi, everyone!! A couple of weeks ago, I decided to subscribe to a monthly coloring class for markers offered through Kit and Clowder when Alyce was celebrating reaching 15K fans in her Facebook group. I've always heard wonderful things about Kit and Clowder classes so I finally decided to take time for myself to develop my coloring skills.

The August monthly class focused on coloring this fabulous Bookworm Fairy digital image from The Paper Shelter and twilight background. I had never tried coloring a background before because in my head it was way to scary! The monthly class was the perfect tool to build confidence in myself because Alyce broke the image down into bite-size sections, only focusing on individual elements in each video tutorial. For example, one video was only coloring the trees, while other videos focused on coloring the grass, sky and clouds. This made a daunting project not feel so overwhelming.

Here is the finished project:

I am totally excited with how this came out!! I still can't believe I actually colored this! I really enjoyed taking time to learn new techniques through this class and I'm looking forward to starting my September florals class that is available now through the middle of October. The projects for September are so spectacular, I even added on the pencils class to take a stab at coloring with colored pencils. I couldn't resist the vibrant colors in that prairie bouquet! More info here...

So now I just have to decide what to do with my finished background piece. It is sized slightly under 5x7 inches once I trimmed the edges. Personally, I want to mat and frame it for keepsake purposes or I could turn it into a card. What would you do?

Thanks for stopping by!!

  1. The card is absolutely gorgeous! I would actually use it as a card and mail it to me LOL... but, if you don't want to do that I would definitely frame it and keep it as inspiration for more projects that at first glance might seem too difficult but you can do it!
