Tiddly Inks Challenge - Thanks Shaker Card

Hello! A new challenge begins today over on the Tiddly Inks Challenge Blog. We want to express gratitude to those whom we are thankful for so it's time to get busy making Thank You cards and projects.

Tiddly Inks: For the Birds

My make for this challenge is a card that I made for a good friend of mine from high school.

We recently celebrated our 20-year reunion and my friend, Alexis, is now the Assistant Principal of the high school we attended. As a member of the reunion planning committee, we thought it would be great to offer a tour of the high school because it has undergone many renovations since our days there. Alexis offered to arrange the tour and he was indeed the perfect tour guide. No one else could have done it better! My classmates and I truly enjoyed taking a walk down memory lane.

I used Jennifer McGuire's tutorial for making a floating image shaker card as inspiration for the design. First, I added the word THANKS to the For the Birds image and then colored it with Copics.

I created the frame by nesting two stitched rectangle dies together. Taping the two dies together  with washi tape before running it through my Big Kick kept all of the frames uniform. I created the background using the Tim Holtz splatters stencil with blueprint sketch distress ink.

During the frame construction, I suspended the image with fishing line and added an assortment of blue and gold sequins in our school colors.

Here's another look at the finished product.

Now it's your turn! Link up your Thank You projects for a chance to win a $10 gift certificate to the Tiddly Inks shop. If you need more design team inspiration, you can also see what my teammates have been up to this week. They rock!!
