SSS: Masculine Challenge & DT Call

Hi everyone! It feels great for the weekend to have finally arrived and to have time again to share many of my crafty projects with you. Today, I have a card I will be entering in the Simon Says Stamps Make It Masculine Challenge and Design Team Call.

For the focal point, I layered the smile circle die cut from the SSS June Card Kit three times to give it some dimension against the stitched circle. I applied distress inks (frayed burlap, walnut stain, faded jeans, and chipped sapphire) using the grid stencil on a diagonal to create the diamond pattern backdrop. The sentiment in the lower right corner inked up in dark brown is from the Mama Elephant Up and Away stamp set.

I added a thin diagonal striped ribbon to the rim of smile circle die before adhering it to the stitched circle die cut. The whole thing is popped up with dimensionals.

The inside panel has walnut stain distress ink applied to the perimeter and I pieced together three sentiments from the Mama Elephant Bear Hugs stamp set for the greeting.

I find masculine cards to be a bit of a challenge to create but especially like how I was able to incorporate the smile circle die from the SSS card kit. The June kit is fabulous and filled with such bright and cheery colors and prints for summer - definitely not a traditional masculine color scheme - but this card speaks for how versatile the kits can be with a little creativity. As a new SSS card kit subscriber, I am super excited to be able to stretch my crafty stash in so many ways.
