No Bones About It
Today, I have a new DT project to share for SP and Company's Love & Family Week using a December new release stamp set -- Puppy Surprise Valentine -- from the Tina Wenke Collection. We have a Lab/Hound/Shepard mix who we rescued from the animal shelter when he was 6-months-old. Toby's been part of our family for over 9 years now. He was our "kid" before we had kids and despite his obsession with anything paper -- tissues, paper towels, and even a few greeting cards here and there -- overall he's been a very good dog, with very few health issues.
For this card, I heat embossed the woodgrain background stamp with white embossing powder on basic black card stock. The image is secured to real red card stock which is attached to the card base with dimensionals. A few bright candy dots and white gel pen stitch marks frame out the main image and sentiment. Here's another close-up:
I have to admit it's been tough for me to think about Valentine's Day with Christmas right around the corner. These last few weeks have been especially hard on our family because Toby hasn't been feeling well. After two chest x-rays and multiple medications, we learned a week ago that he has Dilated Cardiomyopathy, or DCM, which is a form of heart disease in large breed dogs. Unfortunately, there isn't a cure and we're not sure how much more time we have with him. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that he makes it through the holidays.
During times like these, we have to appreciate each and every day. I am so thankful for my family and friends who are helping us get through this difficult time.
