Winter Hues and Icy Blues

Hi there! Here is some chilly inspiration for Winter Hues week, over at SP and Company. It's definitely appropriate for the weather we are having here in Virginia. Just a few days ago we were having snow flurries and had to break out the winter hats and mittens.

For my card this week, I used Polar Bear Present from the Gill Roberts Collection. I fell in love with this little guy the minute I saw him and thought he would be perfect for this week's theme.

I tried a masking technique with post-it notes for the sponged background using Tumbled Glass and Faded Jeans distress inks. I also added a sparkly silver layer of foiled card stock which has beautiful vertical stripes running through it.

For additional interest and dimension, I used part of a cotton ball for his hat and added three clear rhinestones to the bottom right corner. Here's a close-up:

So, what's your favorite winter animal? Let me know my commenting below. Come play along with us and link up your projects for Winter Hues week here.

As appropriate, this is also my entry for the Color Me Creative Challenge #81 - Wintry, Frosty & Cold Theme.
