Joyous Reindeer with Buttons

I'm really excited to share my card with you this week for New Techniques Week over at SP&Co. I can't remember exactly where I saw this tutorial but thought it was the coolest idea ever! I mean, why didn't I think of that!?!? Better yet... it's so simple to do once you can get your hands on some clear buttons. That was the most challenging part for me!  So, let's get started…

Instead of coloring the ornaments hanging from this little guy's antlers with Copics, I created my own custom buttons to coordinate with the Echo Park Tis the Season banners. All you do is glue a clear button to any pattern/print designer cardstock and then cut the button out using your craft knife or a pair of scissors. I used mini glue dots. When you're done, the cardstock pattern will be visible through the clear button. It's so simple... yet creates an entirely unique look to your design!

I thought this Funny Reindeer stamp from the Tina Wenke Collection was a perfect example to use for this technique because the ornaments were just the right size.

As for other design elements, I used a hexagon punch to trim the banners at a perfect angle. The sentiment on the front is from SP's Oh Christmas Tree set. Doesn't this reindeer looks joyous? The stripes embossing folder adds some texture while white gel pen stitch marks frame out the card.

For a change, I also added some stripes and stitching to the inside too. The card is cut at 5 ½-inches square so there's still plenty of room to write a greeting inside.
