Swinging By to Say Hi

This weekend, my husband took the kids to Canada to visit his parents and relatives.  It's the end of the Spring semester and Commencement is next weekend so I couldn't miss time off from work.  I took the opportunity to sleep in on the weekend, catch up on my TV shows, and I also had LOTS of time to get crafty!

I mostly worked on my Beginner Copics class through Color Me Creative Classroom. Today however, I did create a card using the new Swinging Girl stamp from the Gill Roberts Collection at SP & Company.

After first stamping/coloring my image, I then picked out the cardstock colors and decided on a layout that would work.  I used the clouds from the Sunshine Emma die tools set to give the card dimension.  For the cloud on the right, I used the die to cut a cloud in the blue layer.  The top layer on that cloud is raised with pop dots.  The other cloud was also made using the die tools, but the bottom layer is laying on top of the stamped image.  The top white layer is raised with pop dots too.  If I had more room on the card, I probably would have added at least another cloud to the layout.

In the photos below, you can see the dimension and also note that the white cloud layers are embossed with polka dots.

To add interest, I added stickles to the butterfly, bumblebee, flowers, and leaves as well as white gel pen stitch marks to frame out the image.  At the very end after I put the entire card together, I managed to squeeze in the sentiment on the front of the card.  At first I thought I would have to put it on the inside but it's nice to be able to include it on the card front.

    1. Thanks, Marie! I just started Suzanne Dean's Beginner Copics class at the end of April. Between the class and Samantha's speed coloring video, I felt pretty good with the way this card came out!
