How Cool Is This?
It has also become somewhat of a tradition for me to make cards for those of us who celebrate birthdays in our "birthday club" at work. In our club, you are responsible for providing or baking the cake for the person who has the next birthday after yours. Who doesn't love an opportunity for birthday cake at 10:00am -- especially if it's homemade strawberry cake with homemade strawberry frosting!
One or two years ago, I made a special card for a coworker in our birthday club who has a love for gardening and two grandsons. Not only was it personalized but it was the first pop-up card I had ever made. It was awesome! She loved the card so much that she proudly displays it on her desk - still to this day.
So a few weeks ago, she put an order in to have a card made for a close friend (another colleague) in our birthday club. I wanted it to be extra special because she has a one-year-old granddaughter and a very loveable dog named Puggles. I eventually found an idea online that I thought was too adorable to pass up. I just had to recreate it for this purpose so I figured out how to make a side-step card.
Using the Car Decals cartridge, I cut the lady and doghouse at 3" and the little girl at 1.75". With this card, I have discovered how versatile this cartridge can be! I used small googly eyes because they are really cute and added some orange stickles to the flower and cotton candy pink stickles to the lips. Even the doghouse is personalized!
Even though this card was a lot of work with all the details in the cuts, I am super proud of this creation! It's one of my favorite cards. Happy Birthday, Wendy!! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it for you. Now I only need to find someone who can make a card like this for my birthday! :)
